Alex bio
Alex Whitman

MARIA: "Ok, what you need to know about Alex is that he loved life. He loved it. He played the bass. He traveled. He had just gotten back from his trip to Sweden only a couple of months ago, and he had his whole life ahead of him, and then this one, stupid accident just came and took it all away... forever."

Alexander Charles Whitman, played by Colin Hanks on the TV show Roswell plays a very comedic and lovesick role. Alex chases after the beautiful Isabel Evans (Katherine Heigl) while starting up a band called the "Whits," which makes its debut at a blind date concert. Alex has been friends with Liz Parker (Shiri Appleby) since the 5th grade. Well, they actually met in 4th, but Liz didn't notice him untill 5th.

But in sophomore year things start to change. In September, there are rumors that Liz was shot at her parent's resturant, the Crashdown. Ever since, Liz and his other best friend Maria (Majandra Delfino) start to change the subject whenever Alex appears. They either say they were talking about nothing, or make up some ridiculus story about Czechoslovakians, who come from a country that has not existed for 10 years.

Alex starts to feel really left out and matters only get worse when Liz acuses him of stealing her diary. Alex starts to think that their friendship is over, and is surprisesd when Liz calls him during her time of need. Alex rushes over to the hospital to make sure Liz is allright, but it isn't Liz who's hurt. It's Max Evans (Jason Behr), Isabel's brother. Liz begs Alex to switch his blood with Max's. Alex knows that by doing so, he will be covering up for Max, but he doesn't know *what* he is covering up for. But if Liz has been making goo-goo eyes at Max, he's got to be a pretty nice guy, right? Plus Max has always seemed like a cool guy, even though he's quiet.

Alex agrees to switch blood samples, but when Liz tells Alex to leave right afterward, he gets really angry and hurt. After all, what he just did he could get arrested for. Alex can't stand be lied to any longer and demands to know the truth about what is really going on. Liz sheepishly admits that it was drugs he was covering up for. Alex walks away, perplexed that Liz of all people would be doing drugs.

Topolsky, the school's guidance councelour, finds out what Alex did at the hospital, and asks him to sign a confession. She assures Alex that no police will be involved, and that his name will stay clean. Alex asks what will happen to Liz and and Topolsky says that she would probably be tested to make sure she wasn't hurt. Alex can't quite believe that Max would ever hurt anybody, but Topolsky is sure that nobody is safe with Max Evans around.

After having a long talk with Liz, Alex agrees to hack into Topolsky's computer and discovers that she is FBI. Alex tells Liz that either she tell him exactly what is going on with Max, because there is no way the FBI would be so interested in a couple of kids taking drugs, or this is the end of their friendship. Liz tells him that it isn't her secret to tell and Alex walks.

Later at a party at a soap factory, Alex is hanging out near Liz. When the party gets out of hand, some punks hand both Liz and Alex beer and Sherrif Valenti (William Sadler) takes them overnight in jail. Alex can't take it anymore and decides to tell Valenti everything he knows about Max Evans, but before he can, Liz breaks down and tells him the truth. Max, Isabel, and their friend Michael Guerin (Brendan Fehr) are aliens.

At first Alex doesn't beleive her, but Isabel convinces him by turning ketchup into mustard. Now that Alex is a part of the secret and now the group, he can get even closer to Isabel. They date, and although their relationship is bumpy, they stay together. But then one terrible accident changes their lives. Alex is killed in a car accident.

Liz refuses to believe that it was suicide, as the police report says, after all Alex was on his way to be a physcologist, he was in love with Isabel and had everything going his way. After a lot of undercover work, Liz proves that Tess Harding (Emile de Ravin) killed Alex.

The group is crushed and Isabel takes it the hardest of all. She loved him so much and now after their relationship was just getting bcak on its feet, he was taken away from her for good. Isabel still sees Alex, or rather imagines him. When Isabel decides to marry Jesse Rameirez (Adam Rodriguez), Isabel can't stop the visions of Alex. But vision-Alex convinces Isabel to marry him and to live, after all he isn't real. He is only her imanination. Isabel tells him that if she ever has a son, she will name him Alex and that she will always love him. Alex smiles and fades as Isabel and Jesse hug.

Alex brought humor to the show like no other character can. His personality was unique and his mind was strong. Alex had a wacked sense of humor which shows through in his quotes. It is a humor that makes both the show and books come to life and without it, the storyline is not complete......and so I build this web site not only to honor Alex Manes, but also in memory of Alex Whitman, a deceased friend who could always brighten the mood.
